September marks schools being back in session, vacations slowing down, and everyone is preparing for the upcoming holiday season! This can be a busy time of year, and there may seem to be no extra time for yourself and everything you need to complete for your health, but always remember, you have to take care of yourself before you can care for others! Put your health first and keep in mind that although dialysis treatments can be time consuming, and at times frustrating, they are in place to keep you as healthy as possible. Download this resource to learn more about the short- and long-term effects of shortened or missed treatments.
Let’s talk about transportation! This was a topic brought up by our Patient Advisory Council that needed to be addressed. Without proper transportation, dialysis patients and transplant recipients cannot receive lifesaving care and see their care team in a timely manner. The ESRD Network created a list of best practices to overcome this issue, check out the following resource and see how you can implement these ways of ensuring that each person can attend all appointments and dialysis treatments!
Your ESRD Network wants to recognize at least one facility staff member each month who is going above and beyond for their patients. This month we want to celebrate:
Maria Flint! Maria is the Social Worker for DaVita Benton, DaVita Centralia, Salem at Home and Salem HT in Illinois! Maria has been incredibly engaged with the ESRD Network. She had a very successful on-site visit, has already displayed ESRD Network resources in her facility and even asked for more to support the goals set out by CMS for her patients! She is a joy to work with! Thank you, Maria, for all of your communication and hard work!
