Qsource is honored to highlight our board member, JoAnn Burke, whose distinguished career in gerontology and public policy has been instrumental in advancing our mission to enhance healthcare quality. Her journey with Qsource began in 2008 when her initiatives to build clinical-community partnerships aligned with the organization’s quality improvement work under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
With over two decades of expertise, JoAnn brings a unique blend of clinical and policy experience to the Qsource board. Her academic achievements—a Ph.D. focused on family elder care, a BSN, and licenses as an LCSW and LMFT—underscore her commitment to comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to elder care.
Her career includes serving as Chair of the Indiana Commission on Aging and founding the Gerontology Program at Saint Mary’s College. As Professor Emerita of Gerontology at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, JoAnn has dedicated her professional life to advancing care for older adults and fostering innovative healthcare solutions. Her leadership extends to guiding long-term care facilities toward improved compliance, operational efficiency, and innovative strategies for delivering community-based services.
“I’ve been inspired by the dedication of Qsource staff as they work to improve healthcare for Medicare beneficiaries,” said Burke. “The organization’s commitment to innovation and elevating care standards mirrors my own passion for enhancing the quality of life for older adults.”
JoAnn’s vision for the future includes helping nursing homes transition toward providing adult day services and home care solutions for vulnerable older adults. She believes Qsource’s strong reputation for improving care in nursing homes positions the organization to pioneer innovative models that align with the deinstitutionalization movement. Her contributions strengthen Qsource's ability to overcome obstacles, elevate care, and improve the lives of older persons in the communities it serves.
