The Culture of Safety Center (CSC) supports and enhances a culture of safety in nursing homes. It provides education and promotes the adoption of evidence-based interventions that improve the reliability, safety, and quality of care residents receive. Focusing on the most identified opportunities for improvement related to resident safety and quality of life, we offer onsite education for nursing homes needing additional assistance and one-on-one support.

On September 20, 2023, CMS issued QSO-23-21-NH Updates to Nursing Home Care Compare Staffing and Quality Measures. CMS will be removing the CMS-672 form due to removing Section G MDS data. Additionally, CMS is revising the staffing rating methodology so providers that fail to submit staffing data will receive the lowest score possible for corresponding staffing turnover measures.
CDC Updates

NHSN Updates
FDA approved updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccines for this fall/winter season. The bivalent vaccines are no longer authorized as of 9/12/2023. Under the new recommendations, most individuals will not be up to date with COVID-19 vaccines until they receive the 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine.
